FAQ

Q. How do I sign up for SoleMates®?
A. Click here for registration information.  Or register here.
Please be sure to select the appropriate fundraising level for the desired distance and training.

Q. Do I register for my race or will Girls on the Run register for me?
A. You will need to register for your goal race on your own.  For certain races, Girls on the Run is a featured charity and may offer a discounted registration fee.  Please email GOTR-STL to see if your race qualifies.

Q. How do I find donations and donors?
A. When you register as a SoleMate, you will receive an email with the link to your personal fundraising web page, which you may customize with your own reasons for supporting Girls on the Run, add pictures, etc.  This may be sent out as a link to all of your friends and family, and they can donate online.  Cash and checks can also be taken.  In addition, you may also plan a fundraising event, from a party at a home or local restaurant, to an event at a boutique. Our SoleMates runners have successfully used social media outlets to link possible donors to the web page as well.  In a recent survey, 88% of SoleMates stated that direct email was the most successful form of fundraising for their campaigns.

Q. Is there a training plan, and will there be training runs?
A. Yes. Girls on the Run International has developed a training plan for our SoleMates of all abilities, which you will gain online access to when you register.  In addition, charity runners have the opportunity to train with the Fleet Feet Training Team for any event from a 5k to a full marathon.  SoleMates hosts social runs on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. from our office, and there are informal group runs organized via the Facebook group page.

Q. Are donations that I receive tax deductible for the donors?
A. Yes.  Girls on the Run St. Louis is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are fully tax deductible.  Online donors will receive a receipt electronically and cash and check donors will receive their receipt in the mail.

Q. How much money do I have to raise?
A. There are a variety of fundraising levels an individual can select from when registering to become a SoleMate.  Click here for fundraising levels.

Q. What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising goal by the date of my race?
A. When an individual or team registers for SoleMates they agree to meet the fundraising minimum for their selected level.  If you do not raise the minimum, any balance between funds raised and the minimum will be charged to the credit card on file 3o days after the goal race.

Q. How long do I have to raise the fundraising minimum?
A. An individual SoleMate or team has 30 days after their goal race to meet the fundraising minimum.
