ST. LOUIS (August 3, 2022) – Girls on the Run St. Louis has added a new member and elected officers to its Board of Directors. Meet the dynamic people who will lead Girls on the Run St. Louis into its next decade, dedicated to providing continued access to high quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum that  supports girls’ confidence, competence, physical and emotional health, as well as their connection to their community.

Elected officers to the board include: chair Amy Fulton, Associate Director Internal Audit and Financial Advisory (Healthcare), Protiviti; vice chair Jill Falk, Vice President of Communications, Schnuck Markets, Inc.; secretary Gabriela Ramirez-Arellano, Executive Director of Entrepreneurship, The Cortex and Executive Director, The BALSA Foundation; treasurer Mike LaMartina, Chief Operating Officer, Ballpark Village St. Louis; immediate past chair Hannah Nelson, Senior Counsel, BJC HealthCare

Joining the Board of Directors is Dr. Kelly Harris, PhD, CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy and Surgery (Public Health Sciences), Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Harris leads the Health Equity, Opportunity and Education Research Lab and seeks to understand how systemic racism and specifically efforts to support and resist equity in health and educational settings operate to limit achievement and opportunity for youth.

About Girls on the Run St. Louis

Girls on the Run St. Louis is a life-changing, non-profit program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade, a  critical time in girls’ self-development. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. The innovative program combines training for a celebratory 5k event with interactive lessons that  combine self-esteem enhancing lessons with uplifting workouts aimed to develop the whole girl – physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. Girls are empowered with positive self-awareness and  increased confidence; a sense of achievement by training for and completing a 5k; and giving back to  their community through a service project each season. Girls experience confidence through accomplishment becoming girls who can.

Girls on the Run St. Louis was founded in 2002 and is now the second largest council in North  America. Today, Girls on the Run St. Louis is in more than 450 schools across 23 counties in eastern  Missouri and western Illinois. Visit www.girlsontherunstlouis.org to learn more about how you can  empower a girl and empower a generation.
