About Girls on the Run St. Louis

Girls on the Run St. Louis is a life-changing, non-profit program for girls in 3rd through 8th grades, a critical time in girls’ self-development. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Girls are empowered with positive self- awareness and increased confidence, a sense of achievement by training for and completing a 5k and giving back to their community through a service project each season. Girls experience confidence through accomplishment
becoming girls who can.

Girls on the Run St. Louis was founded in 2002 and is now the second largest council in North America. Today, Girls on the Run St. Louis is in more than 450 schools and community sites across 23 counties in eastern Missouri and western Illinois. Girls on the Run is included as a top research-based program in a Social-Emotional Learning Guide developed by researchers at Harvard University and has been recognized by the National Afterschool Association (NAA) as one of the most influential after-school programs in the nation. The Office of the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, and the U.S. Public Health Service highlighted Girls on the Run as an example of a program that is effective and necessary to support the mental and physical health of our nation’s young people.
